Weather Preparedness
During stormy weather preparedness is essential. This guide is meant as an aid to assist you with simple and logical steps which can be taken to minimize or entirely prevent damage.
- Double up lines, including spring lines, and make sure all are in good condition. Allow as much line as possible to compensate for tidal changes.
- Remove all loose articles on deck, including bimini tops, plastic side enclosures, sails, coolers, and dinghies.
- Secure all hatches and doors, and if a dockbox is owned, make sure it and the lid is secure.
- Check battery for charge and make sure that bilge pumps are working properly.
- Make sure all fenders are placed properly and secured.
- Check your boat as often as possible.
- In the event of a severe threat of a hurricane disconnect electric, water and all other connections from the dock.
